A lot of people today are getting on the band wagon of meditation. Meditation done without preparation and understanding does not get the desired results. Experienced practitioners and teachers of meditation will tell you that learning meditation has to be accompanied with process of purification and service. The Internal cleansing process is one of the toughest not only because it makes you so uncomfortable but because being at it requires a stamina that is difficult to sustain on a day to day basis. Like exercise, however it is addictive once you start doing it regularly. Let me share some ways of cleansing with you and no one formula fits anyone.
One can cleanse oneself in many ways, by exercising which gives some a high, by monitoring one’s thoughts, through meditation or through prayers, just by engaging oneself in doing something one loves to do which becomes passive meditation. Most people do not know what they want from life or what they want to do with their lives. Yet every human being knows that they want to be loved and appreciated.
Love is so comforting, so reassuring yet many find it so elusive. The one’s who keep chasing it forget that the void within can only be filled by self and self-love is the starting point. The question to ask then is “Do I like myself and to what degree?”
While answering this question very few can earnestly answer that they love themselves unconditionally for we are conditioned to believe that we must earn what we have and usually that is through the path of hard-work and that one must deserve what one gets or has. Nothing is further from the truth.
One just needs to honestly deeply seek and one is rewarded. The most important relationship in your life is with your ‘Self’…and I can’t stress the importance of having an amicable relationship with one self. Every word you think or say is an affirmation, however along life’s journey we accumulate a lot of junk in our bodies as we grow up and the process of cleansing is pivotal to go on the paths of Higher meditations. We tend to store and get sore with the emotions we have stored in our bodies. When repressing or with-holding the expression of these emotions, we may form patterns and belief systems that also effect our mental framework. The physical, emotional and mental cleansing thus is very important for the energy that one receives during meditation. Without purification it’s like whatever is put in a dirty cup is not drinkable. One my say that keep pouring good water and the cup will get cleansed and then one ca drink from it, which is true, however not a permanent solution as we keep dirtying the cup with our emotions and thoughts. Thus, the three-pronged strategy of Purification, Meditation and Service works best.
